In your group you are to read your assigned poem (Innocence on the front Experience on the back) and prepare answers each of the following:
- How does the author use structure (meter, rhyme, line length) to capture the essence of innocence and experience? (2 responses)
- To what extent does the use of poetic devices and figurative language manifest the difference of the experience? (2 responses)
- How do the poems address and articulate Blake’s ideas about the liminal space in which we exist? (1 response)
You will turn in the following:
- Your fully annotated poems
- Your FIVE fully analyzed written responses that reflect your annotations, that indicate thoughtful and intelligent consideration of the questions, and that address the liminal nature of human existence
- You will have whatever is left of class TODAY, all period MONDAY, and about 20 minutes on TUESDAY. You will Stand and Deliver to the class PRECISELY what you have written (complete or not) on TUESDAY.
- Your annotations and written responses count as a .5 essay grade.
