Your goal for this week is to complete the writing assignment for The Importance of Being Earnest. Your completed writing assignment is due to turnitin.com by 11:59 on THURSDAY, 5/7.
ALSO, on THURSDAY, I will be posting the final exam, which counts as 10% of the the total grade. Your complete final will be due to turnitin.com by MONDAY, 5/11.
For the writing assignment, you will complete the following:
Please note the following manifestations in the play:
men’s roles, women’s roles, class and inherent class expectations, pedigree, social expectation and subterfuge, moral rigidity
Then, choose ONE and identify the following:
a. what is being made fun of (what social foible or issue)
b. three textual examples of how you know what is being made fun of (where do you see Wilde making fun of what you identified as "a"
Then, for EACH textual example identify the following:
a. device of satire being used and HOW you know it is that device;
b. how it links to what is being satirized and WHAT CHANGE IN BEHAVIOR it calls for
You may complete this in groups no larger that four and you may complete it like a Pink Bin of Destiny activity.
